ABOUT ED
Ed Clarke is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience including significant periods working at the elite level of sport in the UK.
Ed completed his Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy at Kings College in London, gaining his early working experience within the UK’s NHS system, before moving into the private practice and sports domains.
Ed started his elite Sports Physio journey as the 1st Team Physiotherapist for Arsenal’s Women’s team in the Women’s Super League (WSL) and Champions League between 2009 and 2012. He then experienced one of his career highlights working across multiple sports at the 2012 London Olympics which were taking place in his home city.
In 2013, Ed moved to Australia to complete his Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of Western Australia in Perth. It was during this period that Ed and his wife fell in love with the Australian way of life. After completing his post graduate study, Ed remained in Australia working for another year in a busy private practice in Melbourne.
On returning to the UK, Ed continued work as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Clinic Manager at one of the premier sports medicine clinics in London with extensive links within London’s sports and orthopaedics communities. Across a five-year period he also provided Physiotherapy services to the England Hockey pathways programmes, including travelling as the Team Physio to major International tournaments.
In 2019, full time elite sport came calling again and Ed moved to a Physiotherapist role with the prestigious Chelsea Football Club’s Academy medical team. After initially overseeing the physiotherapy care for the elite U15/16 full time squads he progressed to be the Head Physiotherapist for U21 squad. Ed was then promoted to Performance Therapies Lead for the full Chelsea FC academy, a position he held until deciding to move his family to Australia.
Pure Sports Physio is very excited to have such an accomplished Physiotherapist to add to our already experienced performance physiotherapy team.
